Happy Christmas to One and All

I'm more in the mood for Christmas today, maybe it's because we have had early snow in the UK or the fact that I'm nearly done present shopping -what ever it is i'm looking forward to the big day now
so in true Christmas style I would like to wish all my blog followers and anybody who stumbles on my blog by accident

thank you for following me and hopefully you will continue to follow me in 2010

2nd fair and it sold !!

No pics today , just a post
I really should have more faith in myself,lol, the necklace below that i blogged about sold today...yayyyy!
it was only it's 2nd outing to a fair , the 1st one a friend admired it and was going to buy it for her mum but didn't ...todays fair someone bought it for their mum after they saw her trying it on, her mum had fallen in love with it
so pleased because sometimes my designs can be a little unusual and not to everybodies taste
I have another idea for a "different" bracelet...so watch this space,lol

Art Teacher Jewellery ??............

I'm pleased to say my button necklace that i put on here sold at my last craft fair ..the lady who bought it was very pleased with it and it did give a bit more confidence in some of more "unique" designs
my newest is this

my sons girlfriend calls this type that i do "art teacher" jewellery because she says art teachers always wear bold,eye catching designs ...hopefully i havn't offended any art teacher who think they would never wear anything like that in a month of sundays,lol.
If I'm brave enough I may put this one out for sale at my fair tomorrow, or i may wear it myself and see what kind of comments ( or sniggers ,lol ) that i get

I love reading craft tutorials ....

I love sitting and browsing through peoples craft tutorials, I think it's great that not only do people share their ideas but explain step by step how to achieve them.
Todays find is

http://thelongthread.com/?p=2021

I've looked at a few but definatly want to try making the butterfly collage

i love butterflies and it sounds like something even i can do ,lol, if i ever do find the time I will definatly post a pic on here

Kittens ,Beads and Christmas.....

I don't think i've mentioned on here or on the craft forum but my little ruby cat had kittens on my birthday on the 23rd of September..she had 4 and they are sooo ready to go to new homes now. My eldest son decided to have 2 and he picked them up yesterday ,that leaves me with these 2 monsters

they have loads of character alot like their mother and you can't help but awww and ohhh and them but it will be nice to see them homed and get my house back to normal and book the cat in too be done !...no more kits in this house !!

I mentioned I was doing a grey and white pearl bracelet, well i finished it ...took me longer because i was doing it while watching t.v and as all my family know i can't watch t.v,lol i either fall asleep or find 101 jobs that really need doing straight away !
anyway here it is, i have enough glass pearls left to make another so i think i will make one for the website

and finally ................there are 38 days left to Christmas !!!!

I had a thought while peeling potatos

I have some weird and wonderful and sometimes just dam boring thoughts and clippets of inspiration when I'm doing mundane jobs like spud peeling ,hoovering etc..well while peeling yesterdays spud ( 6 of us living at home and one son visiting,I had a lot of spuds,lol) I thought, people who follow or stumble across my blog must think I do some strange jewellery because the only pics i seem to put up are the ones i'm not sure about
I do do normal stuff....promise, I just don't always get round to photographing it all, as normally i tag,bag and store it in my craft fair boxes once they are done....anyway I did manange to take a pic of these 2 bracelets which sold at last weeks event ( can't remember why i took the pics but glad i did)

The faux glass pearl one is a popular design that I've done in loads of different colours and I'm currently doing one in white and grey

The other one is made from vintage leopard print beads, i had enough to do 3 braclets like this ( kept one for me !) and they have always sold really quickly...sadly i only have about 3 of these beads now , so i will have to think of something to do with them

so todays memo to self is ..............take more photographs !!

Is it steampunk ??

This week i've been busy making bracelets and necklaces for all the craft fairs we have booked in the run up to Christmas.
I tried something a little different , I was aiming for steampunkish but not sure if it is...like so many of my ideas it looked so much better in my head,lol

To start with the diamond glaze cracked but a brainwave and a liberal coat of clear nail varnish helped then i found i didn't have as many little butterflies as i thought
anyway i will keep this one and hopefully improve on the next one i do

BIG buttons......

I love buttons !!
old vintage,new ones,unusual ones and BIG ones.
The button in the pic is huge,when i saw them i had to have them even though i had no idea what i was going to do with them.
I made a necklace pretty much the same as the pic but in cream for myself and everybody seemed to like it ( i loved it ),although my sons girlfriend said i looked like an art teacher in it ( not a bad thing when you think about it, art teachers have a certain unique style )
This one I've adapted slightly and added more cords ..it's designed to be a choker style ,not everybodies cup of tea i know but suits the button and makes it a statement necklace.
I'll put it out at my next event and see what people think,sometimes the more unusual the design the more people love it ( sometimes they don't,lol)and if people don't like and it sits gathering dust then i have another button necklace all for me !!

now to find something to do with all the lovely mother of pearl buttons i have ...hmmmmm

I have no patience ......

I know ,i know I should wait for the glue to dry before i take a pic, but i've never had any patience with little things like that !!
I tidied up my worktable recently ( there was actually a mound of bits and pieces in the middle of the table at least 10 inches high )and found a bag of cufflink blanks...i think i bought a wholesale amount when i had an order for some scrabble cufflinks ,obviously i'd planned to do so much with them then forget all about it !!( typical me )
Well this is my new idea ( not new new but new to me )

I quite like them and the clear cabs on the front make the words "pop" out,I have about 6 pairs of cufflinks now ( the others being gaming dice ones) which i will box up and sell as Christmas stocking fillers at the next fair we do

Let you know if people liked them,lol

Sooo long since I've made a new charm bracelet.....

I havn't done one of my fully loaded charm bracelets for ages , but after a lovely trip to the auctions yesterday I have loads and loads of lovely "new" vintage beads....so here is make #1

My bracelets are a mix of new and vintage beads,charms and gemstones, each one is totally unique, I never repeat a bracelet ( although I have done similiar for customers in different colours )as I can't cause each one takes shape as I make it and involves so many different beads that I couldn't remember what went into one,lol,this one has a real Autumn feel to it and I have called it "Fall".

I made this one when watching t.v last night and I'm pondering over a design for another one in black with a nice strong contrasting colour ( not sure yet which colour to use)

Wednesday, 21 October 2009

A cardmaker I'm definatly NOT !

This year I decided to have a go at making my own Christmas cards and I've got to be honest I didn't discover a hidden talent,lol
I did only want something simple , the text on the tree is about Charles Dickens "Christmas Carol" and I even managed to print a greeting inside
( out of 20 only 2 went really wrong,one i did a tree upside down ! and the other the card slipped in the printer )

I quite like them but don't know if I'm brave enough to actually send them out,lol

so all you card makers , well done it's harder than it looks

And some bracelets.........

Two posts in one day , i'm on a roll......
I've had a productive day ( well jewellery wise, I've not done much housework,lol)...
The 3 bracelets together are for selling ,2 are minus clasps at the minute as I can't find my clasps!!...I love wearing this style and have another similiar one with a vintage bead on that came off a broken 1940s necklace.
The yellow one I'm going to keep ( I must stop keeping so much ,lol) cause I love yellow and I made it a tad too big so it fits my chunky wrists nicely

now which do I wear out tonight...the russian doll necklace or the bracelet ??...hmmmm

My little russian dolls....

I've been playing with my stash this week and come up with this cute necklace, I love russian dolls and think this necklace is quite sweet...unfortunatly ( or maybe not) I'm going to have to keep this one as the glue has bubbled under the setting..so I will wear it when I go out tonight :)
I will definatly make more and experiment with different images and different styles of chain.
hmmm wonder if the bubble will go the more the glue dries.....

Sad,Bad and Mad Times...........

I feel like I always say this but it's been a busy time here

Sadly I had to have a break this month from my jewellery as I suffered another miscarriage which left me feeling very run down and quite poorly not to mention all the usual lows that come with losing a pregnancy,but I am now starting to get back on my feet a little ,mostly thanks to my wonderful man who is always there for me, no matter how down I get.

We had a busy weekend at two lovely events and met some lovely people ,we caught up with old friends and made new ones.

I bought another Christmas present from the very talented kerry of pennydog jewellery .If youv'e never come across her designs before she is a wonderful resin jewellery maker who has now written a book explaining the whole process .Such a fantastic book I'm tempted to keep it and get another for a present and have a go myself ( I'm sure if i stop cooking for my lot and washing clothes I'm bound to find the time :) )

Wednesday, 19 August 2009

I've made so many new designs ...

I've been really busy making the past few weeks that last week we took a few days off and went down south to visit both sets of family

We had a lovely time and I came home with some mouthwatering allotment veg off my dad,I know I should make the time to do my own veg but I never seem to have enough hours in the day and Mr Boo is no gardener !!
I have a weekend event this week and then a 3 day event next week plus I need to put more designs on my website. As most of my designs are one of kind I find it hard to choose between putting them on the website or taking them to events .Most do end up priced up and bagged for events (mainly because I dread photographing them as I really can't seem to get a good pic of any of them)
anyway here's a couple of my newbies ....hope you like
The top one is dyed shell and glass , I love shell at the minute and it features in quite alot of my new stuff , I've had some lovely compliments over this design ,I have quite a few similiar designs like this
The middle pic is glass and vintage acrylic beads, I sold this design when we went down South ( I go nowhere without stock,lol).
The bottom pic is yesterdays make ...natural hollow shells with freemoving white freshwater pearls...I came up with this design over a year ago and it's still very popular and adapts to most beads ( ooh as i was typing a christmas present brainwave came over me,lol,shhhhh say no more)

I'd love to find the time to......

Write....
You might think daft bird you are writing your blog but I'd love to find the time to write properly again.
I used to love writing short stories and somewhere in the mess I laughingly call home are loads of my efforts,covering loads of different topics.They were never intended for anybody to read ( in fact lots havn't been seen by anybody but me) , they were just a nice way to fill a quiet night when my kids were little and all tucked up in bed by 7pm!
I love reading and many ideas have been from some of my favourite books ,I have so many favourites including anything by Daniel Defoe but especially Moll Flanders ( I tend to reread it every 6 months or so) and A Journal of the Plague Year ( sounds morbid but was so interesting) , my other favourites are Stephen Donaldsons Thomas Covenant Chronicles and I'm eagerly waiting the next one is the series ( I started reading these when i was about 16 ,so was overjoyed when he decided to write more of them) and the Garion novels by David and Leigh Eddings ( again these are the ones I reread again and again). A new author I discovered was C.J Samson ,the Shardlake series ( not reread them all again yet but I know I will),as well as The Diving Bell and the Butterfly,K Pax and many many more

Probably as the winter rolls on and I feel less guilty about not doing the garden and the housework I will hopefully find the time and inspiration to put something down on paper ( or screen ) and who knows I may even be brave enough to show a small section off on here

who remembers Nurse Nancy ?.........

Hands up if you remember Nurse Nancy from the Twinkle comics.....
We had a rare sunday at home this week so managed to get to a local car boot where I picked up 2 Twinkle annuals at a very good price, they were a little child damaged inside on some pages so i decided to upcycle them into bangles
I've had the bangles for ages and was orginally going to paint and seal them but this was much fun. The whole bangle is covered with nurse nancy pics and then varnished, for a 1st attempt I'm quite pleased with it .Sadly it doesn't fit my chunky wrist so I may have to chat to my dad about wood turning some large bangles.This one needs a couple more coats of varnish yet and then hopefully I'll be able to post a better pic of it
Leafing through the annual and doing the bangle really took me back to my childhood where I would find a quiet corner of the house and sit and read my comic for hours.
These are definatly something I will be doing again .Time to go searching for some more childhood annuals I think

I'm a convert.....

Recently I was chatting to the lovely Jane from http://www.just-soaps.com/ about hand sanitizer gels ....I've always used one ( I think it stems from my many years working in care )..she advised me too try her lavender handwash liquid soap...its a lovely foaming soap that you can carry round with you .....and I'm a convert , it's smells gorgeous and doesn't dry out my hands
plus at the same time we got our jack russell some of the neem oil soap...she has very sensitive skin and it works a treat, I will definatly be buying some for my sisters dogs.
Next on my list to try is the dead sea bath salts as I do love a good soak in the tub after a long day

I will definatly post a pic as soon as I can track down some batteries for my camera ( maybe one of the dog " enjoying" her bath

My Steampunk Purse........Time to keep a secret

After I tidy up of my work table I felt a bit more inspired (plus I could actually find everything !!) so decided to have another go at steampunk.
This purse locket is fantastic and I've had a it a while so here's my steampunk purse locket called.....Time to keep a secret

The tiny yellow label inside reads shh...
This might be taken off as I'm not sure about it but I love this design and am a little more confident about doing more as I have some gorgeous unique findings that I have collected over the years.
Maybe I should tidy more often ,lol...............

Wednesday, 1 July 2009

Oh my .....I won

Oh my oh my, I won a competition....now those who know me know I usually have one type of luck...bad luck .I never win anything .
But I entered http://tollykit.blogspot.com/ June giveaway to name her beautiful dragon bracelet ..my sister Wendy used to love dragons and I know a few "dragon names" , I thought this one looked like a Nagendra which means snakegod. The prize is a beautiful pair of earrings
Thank you so much , I can't wait to receive them and show them off..plus post a photo on here

Oh I do Love Buttons...

I really do, buttons feature in lots of different types of craft from card making , to soft furnishings and jewellery
I have hundreds of them, some inherited from my gran who lived in an age where you didn't throw anything away that could be used again, some i have bought and some people have given me when they know how much i like them

This is my latest piece with buttons
I've called it "cute as "
It has a lovely movement to it and look fabulous on.
I may go button buying when my local market is here next .....you can never have enough !!

Made for me by Ticklyspider

We have been so busy here since Saturday , it just seems to be no stop what with one thing and another.

We did 2 seperate fairs over the weekend and had a fantastic time at both a met some lovely people , new friends and old.

Sunday my very clever friends of http://www.ticklyspider.co.uk/ had my order ready for me and wow it's lovely , so lovely I have to share it with you
The first pic are of course gold "love" letters these are part of a Christmas present for a family member , the second letters are mine ...for my bathroom of course .They are large letters and in the shop you would pay a small fortune for something like this.
I'm sure you will agree they are gorgeous ....and such a good price. I know these designs are very very popular and they are already working on ideas for Christmas with these beautiful wooden letters.
thank you guys

All done and I quite like it......

All done....

It isn't the best photo but I'm sure you get the idea. A friend nipped down this morning and saw the pendant minus the necklace and has ordered one for her holiday in a weeks time ...she wants shells but with sand coloured seedbeading and sand and black cording..
so loving making these at the minute , I might even keep this one for myself
Now to order more cord for my next idea ..........................................

Monday, 22 June 2009

my new pendants...........

I do alot of jewellery for evening and special event wear, so I have recently been working on some everyday wear...called my "yummy mummy" range

I love making these pendants, they hang on a 6 strand handmade cord necklace ( loving cord and all types of shell beads at the minute)

So far I've have done 2 of these in glass beads but I have to show off this one as I really enjoyed making it , I havn't done the cord necklace yet but this is the pendant

New ideas..............

I woke up this morning with all the best intentions of giving my house a good blitz and getting on top of the laundry but as I've sat with my morning cuppa I've had a couple of ideas for some new pieces ( and this time I will remember to write them down as I have a brain like a sieve at the minute) so maybe the cleaning will have to wait a while longer
While I was browsing the net I came across this lovely site on etsy
some very pretty designs and something I have been researching to do myself for a couple of weeks, I have the basics and just need a bit of time and money to have a try....so watch this space
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ticketyboo~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have also fallen in love with these
by the very talented http://www.bodrighy.co.uk/
I think they would make fantastic garden features , they are so earthy and natural
I will do a mad dash clean and then sit and work on my ideas so hopefully I will have a new design to post later
09 First Wedding Watch Order
Last year my charm watches proved to be very popular with brides to be , many choosing to wear them at evening receptions.
I've never done purple and found it hard to get the right shades...mostly I get orders to do creams, pinks, whites and peach although I have done a black and red one , which was for a prom rather than a wedding
This watch is the first custom order of 09 . I take alot of notes and try my best to match up the colours as requested by the customer. Hopefully this bride to be will be as happy with her watch for her wedding in August as the others were
Ticketyboo ribbon
I did say I would post my ribbon on here when it arrived and today it did ! ( quick huh )
The ribbon is 7mm wide and 10metres long and my "ticketyboo jewellery" runs all the way along
I'm very happy with it and can't wait to use it, in fact I have a custom order to send out monday so it will be my first sale tied up with this ribbon.
Personalised Printed Ribbon
My lovely friend Julie of SilverbellsandCockleshells.co.uk rang me up today and during our 3 hr ( !!) conversation personalised ribbon came up ,we had both been looking for some at the same time ( we often come up with the same or similiar ideas ) and decided it was too expensive too justify the outlay
Then I came across this site http://fourseasonsvillage.net/design-your-own-ribbon-c-5.html...
fantastic prices and looks with loads of colours and scripts to choose from, will post a pic on here as soon as it arrives. Looking forward to using it to gift wrap my more expensive designs at my next fair
My Weekend
What a beautiful weekend we had, sunshine galore !
Sadly I missed most of it as we were doing the Quorn Open Gardens craft fair, as always we had a lovely time and came aways happy with our sales, regulars to this event did tell us it was alot quieter this year than previous years.
I picked up 2 custom orders and a follow up sale as well which is lovely and keeps me nice and busy till my next fair.
Hope everybody had a good weekend and soaked up lots of sun. Next weekend I will be gathering my family around me and getting stuck into some much needed decorating .
A New Idea
This is a brand new idea for me, it looks fantastic on but sadly I'm terrible at taking photos.
The threads all finish in a gorgeous filigree cone with a lobster catch fastening.The black bead is a large glass button style with white hollow glass beads.
I really enjoyed doing this , only trouble is I need more waxed cord now !!
I don't know yet if I'm keeping this or selling it, knowing me I'll keep it
I think the next one will have more strands making it a real statement necklace.
Honest Scrap Award
Ohh I have my first blog award, so exciting...it's the honest scrap award from the lovely and very kind http://eljay1980.wordpress.com/. Thank you very much.
I got a lovely comment about my display cones and this award, hopefully the award means my blog is a good reflection of me...a really normal honest person who enjoys all forms of craft and appreciates the work involved.
There are a few requirements, and they are as follows
  1. I must thank the person who gave me the award , list their blog and link it.
  2. I must list ten (10) honest things about myself & a copy of The Honest Scrap Logo on my blog.
  3. I must select at least seven (7) other worthy bloggers & list their links
  4. I must notify the bloggers of the award and hopefully they will follow the above three requirements also.
so as the house has emptied this morning of children and my OH , I've been pondering my 10 honest things , so here goes
  • I suffer with low self esteem and constantly worry about things I have said to people
  • My family is my world and I dread the day when all my children move out
  • I am a prolific reader and will read anything.
  • I have a very short attention span and a terrible memory
  • I have always wanted to do enamel work , and I have a small collection of enamel pots
  • I can repair a car but I can't drive !
  • I have and still do dream alot of dreams that in one way or another come true
  • I hate housework and would rather be sitting playing with my beads
  • I have a phobia of peaches, they make me shake and feel sick if I see one, I also have an aversion to unglazed pottery and frosted glass
  • I'm useless at talking about myself and prefer to listen to others
( wow I found that quite difficult !)
The 7 clickable blogs listed below are the people I would like to nominate
  1. Kazzells Crafts
  2. Designed by Fae
  3. Knitz and Bitz
  4. Murano Silver
  5. ShabbyChic
  6. Jane's Blog
  7. handcrafted cards
It was really hard to pick the 7 as everybody I follow has such lovely blogs, please read these blogs and keep this fab award going
Happy blogging all
Makes from a bad weekend...
This weekend has been very draining and upsetting so on Sunday I sat and crafted..for a while now I've wanted to tweak my display table without the huge outlay
so card and scissors in hand I came up with these
they are perfect for bracelets and easily replaceable should they get tatty, plus they stack really well .I have about 20 in black and white and intend to give them a trial run at my next craft fair
Saturday, 9 May 2009
Made just for me.....
It's not often I get jewellery as a present anymore , but one of my bestfriends has just taken up peyote seed beading, I have tried to do it but lose patience with it ....so when she showed me a recent photo of one of her bracelets I asked her if she could do me one and she has
So thank you so much Julie , it is beautiful .........
Wendy Woe
I recently bought one of the beautiful fairy sculptures from the very very talented OOAK fairy fae sculptures, I'm truely honoured to have her as I know they are not made to sell, so thank you very much Rita
here she is
wendy woe
She is going to be my mum's birthday present,we lost our sister Wendy 10 years ago,Wendy was born with a congenital heart defect and had many problems over the years she sadly died during heart transplant surgery , she was a huge goth fan and looked very much like wendy woe...I know we all miss Wendy very much , she would have loved this little gothic fairy
Trying hard to get back into the swing of things.....
I've not made anything new for ages , sadly I recently miscarried again , my 9th now and it has took me longer than usual to get back into the swing of everyday life but I'm definatly getting there now.
I recently went to the bead and gem show at Newark showground and had a fantastic time as they had a whole seperate hall full of beads....heaven !!
Spent far more than I should but I came away with some lovely beads, I did buy alot of glass pearls and shell beads.
So here is this mornings makes
coffee and cream glass pearl bracelet
I love making this style and normally do them in whole range of mixed colours, I may do some in summery pastels next
Burgundy and cream pearl flower hair combs
my first attempt at hair combs , I'm quite pleased with them but I'm sure with practice I can only improve, I have also done another pair in cream and pink
Hopefully my beading inspiration is back and I have lots more new ideas
Monday, 16 March 2009
So nice when somebody loves what you do....
This post is a really short one, I am mid spring clean and probably will be for the rest of the Spring,lol !
My fairies bracelet posted on here sold yesterday at a wonderful event,I was so pleased as I loved this design and the lady buying it fell it love with it straight away.
I have another idea that I'm mulling over for a bracelet, will post a photo of it on here if it ever takes shape
Back to my cleaning .......
Monday, 9 March 2009
I was going to do some Spring cleaning but.....
Faires in my Garden Fully Loaded Vintage Style Charm Bracelet.
well I woke up full of the best intentions and started off quite well, till I got to my work table !.
I love the fabric leaves and the vintage daises. Butterflies and fairy charms hide amongst the flowers and leaves along with emerald quartz. I don't know where to sell this yet , as I have alot of craft fairs coming up I may keep it to display at those
I am trying to sort out my fairs so I can do a "TICKETYBOO ON TOUR" bit to this blog.
I will price this and box it then decide I think.
meanwhile I am going to seriously think about maybe possibly starting on the cleaning ,lol
making mothers present
I decided to make my mum and my MIL a mothers day present this year and racked my brains for a few days as to what.., neither are big earring or bracelet wearers.
I know my mum has admired the seed bead twisted necklaces before and hopefully my MIL likes them as well, I think she will , she has bought a number of necklaces off me lately and fingers crossed the necklace will suit her, hers will be in red or blue and black.
I've had these bugle beads for years after buying a huge lot for pennies ,I've never used them till now. It took me sooooooooo long to make ( about 6 hrs in all ) so I don't think I'll be making these to sell,lol.
The harderst part ( apart from losing whole strings of beads time and time again , grrrr ! ) was getting it to twist, but trial and error and a bit of luck and I got there in the end.
Hopefully the next one will go a bit quicker as I know what I'm doing now ( lol, she says ) , soon as its done I'll pop it on here
and maybe I might make one for myself .... if doing the 2nd one doesn't drive me stark raving mad ,lol
The last few days.........
Well it's been an eventful few days in the Ticketyboo household and it's only really today I have felt like doing anything to do with my jewellery.
I have been making glazed bezel charms for a friend, I havn't made any of these since last summer and have really enjoyed making them again.
I was worried my diamond glaze may have gone "off" and become cloudy but it has come out lovely and clear, clearer than it looks in the photo.
I came across a tip for the bubbles in diamond glaze, I havn't tried it but I will do later if I get through the mountain of ironing thats built up ......................
if you have bubbles in a freshly squeezed diamond glaze carefully skim over the surface with the flame of a cooker lighter ( or lighter ) , being careful not to soot the glaze ( or burn the surface if you are glazing onto wood ), the bubbles should all pop leaving a smooth blemish free surface ..
if you do try this please let me know how it works as bubbles can be the bain of any diamond glazers life
